SOMETHING WILD
something wild has been touched in me
and it feels like fear - but not
and I feel lost yet I am not
the ground beneath me feels wobbly
yet it may just be me who is shaking
he says I dream and quake
and struggle and whimper in my sleep
something wild has been touched in me
and it did not lash out
and I did not reject it
but have stayed right here
riding this wave out
feeling the crashes on rocks and foamy surf
something wild has been touched in me and I am not the same
I remember the girl of yesterday
and she is somehow strange
but so is todays girl
bumping around and making noise and stubbing toes
finding bruises from head to toe
on both the out side and the in
something wild has been touched in me
and she is awake now
she won't be hiding so much anymore
my eyes give her away
and she is letting go of her hiding
and she is shedding that old skin
of armor and depression and scales and shame
look! she is wildness and darkness and dangerous and full of light
